Collaborative Charcoal Drawings
On our first day of school, Sixth Graders used charcoal to draw from wooden figure models. They had approximately 4 minutes to begin the drawing before they rotated places at their table to work on their neighbor's drawing, switching again after an additional 4 minutes. The first session was used to capture the contours and three-dimensional shading of the model; then in subsequent rotations, the students added imaginative details to finish the drawings. It was a new and exciting experience for the students to work on each others' drawings!
