Shapes
We followed up our exploration of lines with shapes — the space created when you close a line. We discovered that shapes were all around us and looked for them in works of art by Henri Matisse and Louise Nevelson. We created rubbings of sandpaper shapes, collages of different shaped papers, and three-dimensional relief collages of a variety of materials. We then combined our understanding of lines and shapes with a three-dimensional wire sculpture a la Calder, threading beads and foam shapes onto flexible pipe cleaners.
