Treehouses
Treehouses, whimsical and unique, are beloved by the child in all of us. After studying architects and engineers this Spring in our city and bridge paintings, First and Second Graders were ready to become architects themselves. First Graders had been reading books about treehouses in their classroom so they were especially attuned to the intricacies. We looked at many photographs and shared stories of our favorite tree houses. We used vivid liquid watercolors with salt for our night sky; created brown and green paste paper for our trees; and then had so much fun constructing our treehouses with cardboard, popsicle sticks, toothpicks, yarn, fabric, and drawings.
