Mondrian
The unique art of Piet Mondrian was the perfect way for new Kindergartners to start learning about some of the elements of art. With Mondrian’s later work refined down to the most elemental of lines, shapes and colors, the children could easily grasp these three concepts. We began to distinguish between horizontal and vertical lines and to recognize that lines can create shapes. We also talked about the special primary colors of red, yellow, and blue from which all the other colors can be made.
