Kumihimo Braiding
On their first day of art class, Third and Fourth Graders learned about Kumihimo, a Japanese form of braid-making, in which cords and ribbons are made by interlacing strands. Kumi himo is Japanese for "gathered threads". The students picked up on the technique very quickly and were super excited by the different color combinations they were creating. This will be a go-to project when they finish their classwork early.
