Circle Weaving
Weaving is both an ancient utilitarian craft embraced by virtually every culture throughout history and a vibrant contemporary art form. Fourth Graders were introduced to a sampling of this tradition through these circle weavings. We first looked at the concentric circle color studies of Wassily Kandinsky to paint our looms with watercolors and acrylics for details, tying in with our year-long study of patterns. Then we warped our looms and began the weaving process.
