Monochromatic Landscapes
Continuing our study of VALUES—the lightness and darkness of an object—Fifth and Sixth Graders painted a monochromatic (one color plus white and black) landscape. We started with a gradation for our sky and reflected water, blending tints with the addition of white. Then we added mountains and their reflection, using palette knives to add snow and other details. Finally, we mixed in black to create our foreground land and trees.
