Madonna & Child
Fra Angelico, the “Angelic Friar”, was an Early Italian Renaissance painter. He is known for his paintings of Angels, Saints, and the Madonna & Child. His paintings and frescoes are filled with brilliant gold leaf, showing both the sacredness of his subjects and the wealth of his patrons. First and Second Graders used his work as inspiration for their own Mary and Jesus drawings, working with oil pastels covered with thin black paint and detailed with gold acrylic.
